Our stainless steel is all Marine Grade 316 Stainless Stee (A4). Due to the addition of Molybdenum as well as the higher nickel in the alloy, our 316SS screws are more resistant to corrosion than those made from 304SS. Upgrade your fasteners to 316SS instead of 304SS if you intend to use them in a marine setting or an environment that is otherwise corrosive.
The “stainless”, but not the actual alloy, is often sold by big-box stores. These fasteners will not be the 316SS needed for marine fastener applications. Fair Wind Fasteners only deals in fasteners that we would use ourselves. 316 Stainless Fasteners
